Huell visits the historic and ecclectic mining town of Randsburg and meets some very interesting locals. Located in southeastern Kern County, one mile from Hwy 395, Randsburg is home to 80 residents year round. Huell checks out the Randsburg General store, which functions just as it did back when the town was first settled during the gold rush era. People stop in for a visit, a bite and do their shopping, too. Huell also visits some artistic locals Melissa, "The Chime Lady" and Jennie, who lives in an old post office and makes beautiful sculptures from found glass. Huell gets a tour of the city jail, the old church, too and stops in for a refreshment at "The Joint," the only bar in town, which is still under the operation of 95-year-old matriarch, Olga, who suggests the boilermaker.
