A NEW LEASH ON LIFE: THE K9s FOR WARRIORS STORY highlights the journeys of three United States veterans struggling to adapt to life back home. All three suffered from PTSD after returning from serving overseas, and each has found hope and new ways to handle their stress and emotional challenges through the aid of a companion dog. Throughout the documentary, Adam, Shilo and Louis recount their years of service and discuss the PTSD symptoms they faced while trying to re-acclimate to civilian life. Like many veterans, they had trouble managing their flashbacks and hypervigilance, among other issues. Each ended up looking into K9s for Warriors for help. K9s for Warriors was founded in 2010 by Shari Duval who, at the time, was desperate to help her son Brett, a veteran suffering from PTSD and traumatic brain injury after serving two tours in Iraq. She stumbled upon a story about a service dog that had helped another veteran cope and that inspired her to start a service dog agency for vets. Shari's idea gave her son new purpose. Shari and Brett's organization pairs veterans with certified service canines. All the dogs are trained by Shari and her team and each dog is rescued from a shelter. They work with 10 to 12 veterans a month, and the veterans go through a weeks-long orientation program where they learn training tools and bond with their new companions. Weaving together the story of Shari and her son's work with service dogs and the intimate experiences of three U.S. military members in the aftermath of their service, A NEW LEASH ON LIFE shows a unique way suffering veterans are mitigating symptoms and returning to a more regular life.

Finally, she reflects on the Tulsa massacre at a memorial before learning why Tulsa is known as the Route 66 capital.
Samantha ends this season with an all-American family RV road trip throughout the state of Oregon. From Hood River to Fossil to Bend, Samantha and her family take in the magnificent scenery and explore some of the most intriguing stops along the way. She also learns how to drive an authentic Model T car, and visits a real-working ranch, where she gets to herd Black Angus cattle.
Samantha starts her Paradise Coast adventure off with a kayak tour in the salt-waters of Everglades National Park, while learning about the local eco system and remote mangroves. Back on land, Samantha visits the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens and meets Uno, a rescued blind Florida Panther. The Bayshore Arts District is certainly up-and-coming, and Samantha learns this after meeting a local designer, who specializes in re-imaging jewelry in a fresh way. At Bar Tulia, Samantha talks to Chef Betulia about the growing enthusiasm for local craft cocktails and how Naples has the best elements of Miami without it being a huge city. After enjoying a gorgeous Florida sunset, Samantha starts her day off back on the water aboard a dolphin tracking boat, where he helps find and tracks dolphins across the bay. Local spots and the fresh catch usually go hand in hand, especially at Grouper and Chips, where Samantha gets to visit this popular restaurant. Along with great food, there is a big contingent of the live music, which Samantha finds very quickly while visiting Marco Island. Finishing off her trip, Samantha meets Clyde Butcher, the Ansel Adams-esque photographer of the Everglades, who talk about the beauty of the Big Cypress swamp that has been focal point of Clyde's lens and entire career.

Samantha continues her tour of the Lakes Region by taking a loon-spotting cruise on Squam Lake, where she learns of the indigenous wildlife. Heading to the White Mountains Region, Samantha gets a sugar rush at Chutters, home of the world's longest candy counter, then takes a stroll through the remarkable town of Littleton, where she listens to a ukulele quartet perform at Northern Lights Music. Samantha concludes her trip with tea time at the historic Omni Mount Washington Resort, and a Cog Railway ride to the summit of Mount Washington State Park.

Chef Julia Child observes pastry chef Johanna Killeen as she makes "baby cakes," miniature cakes made from of the same basic batter, but varied with different flavoring ingredients. First, she shows Julia how to make the batter, which is a traditional American pound cake recipe, made richer with the addition of creme fraiche . She varies the first recipe by using hazelnut flour as an ingredient, and tops it with a dollop of Italian cream cheese flavored with grapa wine. Then she makes a couple of miniature upside-down cakes, using a rhubarb and caramel topping on one and rose geranium leaves on another.
