Inspired by the romantic back-to-the-land movement of the late '60s and early '70s, the phenomenon known as the wooden boat revival is alive and well in the North Country. In our feature segment we'll visit two Vermont boat builders and another from New York. Tom Hill of Huntington will demonstrate some of his "ultralight" wooden boat building techniques utilizing wood and modern adhesives. We'll watch Bart Howe, also of Huntington, work on a traditional birch bark canoe. And Chris Woodward of Saranac Lake, NY will show us some of the traditional building techniques used in the classic Adirondack guide boat. We'll also visit the Adirondack Museum to explore the rich history of the small wooden boat in the North Country.
