The program is a compilation of the contemporary short documentaries on the Reconstruction 360 website (reconstruction360.org). Each has an introduction by a historian. These stories were shot in several states of the former Confederacy, including Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina. Each of them explores the relevance of Reconstruction-era themes to current issues: Family - A blended family in Savannah, Georgia embraces the matriarchal tradition. Land - On the coast of South Carolina, Black landowners struggle to keep their historic property. Education - Two young women in Tuscaloosa, Alabama navigate educational disparities in their school. Community - Memphis, Tennessee is the site of two successful campaigns to combat racial inequities. Citizenship - After incarceration, a citizen of Sanford, Florida rebuilds his neighborhood and his life. Voting - At Norfolk State University in Virginia, students and faculty stress the importance of voting.
