As we continue working toward a more socially just landscape in U.S. higher education, it has become increasingly important to discuss and celebrate the core values of open education, and then lead and transform through open education. With continued uncertainties from COVID-19 and growing social justice concerns, our teaching practices and learning environments may be particularly challenging for our students. In this interactive virtual presentation, Shinta Hernandez, Ph.D., will share effective open education practices, engagement strategies, and professional development opportunities, with an emphasis on what Montgomery College is doing to advance its work in this space. Participants will ultimately learn about accessible, affordable, equitable, inclusive, and innovative methods to increase student success by way of open education.
