Throughout the 13-part series, viewers vicariously experience breath-taking cycling adventures and see a side of Japan they won't find in the guidebooks. Journeys include a 330-kilometer ride through the northern land of Akita and a challenging ride up a 2,000-meter peak in Nagano Prefecture, which provides breathtaking views of the Japan Alps mountain pass. Along the way, riders take part in traditions such as the harvesting of wasabi plants and the making of baskets from wild bamboo. In every location, viewers are treated to the local culture, history, food and traditions that makes cycling around Japan such a unique journey.
