On the island of Sumatra, in Indonesia, an iconic species is barely hanging on. Orangutans are considered critically endangered. The massive wave of deforestation for oil palm production shows no sign of slowing down. Theoretically protected, the island's precious peatlands are being chewed up. Whole forests are set on fire killing every living thing in this paradise of biodiversity. But scientists have mobilized to save the remaining orangutans. In the heart of the tropical forest they do what they can to halt the carnage and rehabilitate the last few survivors of an uneven fight against a corrupt and merciless authority.

The Mayor looks for him in despair and when he finds him, begs his forgiveness, pays him what his due, and the children return to Hamelin.

In this story, curious Caroline creeps inside the hollow Yule Log intent on finding out the mystery of where Christmas presents come from and gets herself into trouble for going where she shouldn't. There she befriends another prisoner, the ogre Ot, and together they make their escape.

This series features six island women who are distinguished poets in our community: Kathy Song, Juliet Kono, Carolyn Sinavaiana, Mahealani Perez-Wendt, Brandy Nalani McDougall, and Amalia Bueno. These women come from varied ethnic backgrounds and have all worked hard to contribute to the growing presence of a literary community in Hawai'i. Many of them are dedicated teachers who have mentored others to become writers, and many of them also enjoy a national reputation. Each segment features one poet speaking about their lives and work, and sharing several of their poems on camera. Amalia B. Bueno's poetry and short stories have been recently published in Tinfish 20, Bamboo Ridge 98, Walang Hiya: Literature Taking Risks Toward Liberatory Practice and Growing Up Filipino II. Born in Manila and raised in Honoulu, she has worked in public relations, community development, and policy research and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in English from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

Children are also shown how compost biodegrades into soil. They also learn that some plants are air plants or grow on wooden frames. The activity is making a worm farm.

Close-up photography shows seed germination, with roots and stem emerging from the seed. He also shows how to harvest tomato seeds for planting in the spring. Even watermelon seeds can grow under the proper conditions. Sprouts, he explains are actually whole plants that we eat as a garnish in sandwiches. He shows two young viewers how to grow sprouts from seeds.

He observes perennials and annuals, including the oriental poppy that encourages insects to pollinate its flower. Nick itemizes the requirements for healthy flowers, and observes unusual flowers that even trap insects. He shows his young guests how to preserve flowers by pressing them.

Nick is really impressed that leaves are the only living things that can make food from sunlight. Two young friends gather a wide variety of leaves, press them, and scan them on a computer in order to make appealing greeting cards.
