When Cubans wanted freedom from Spain in the late 1800s, nearby Key West and Tampa became appendages of the independence movement. Cubans built little communities all while raising funds for their vision of sovereignty for their homeland. In this episode of Florida Crossroads, we explore how Cubans shaped these two cities, leaving longstanding institutions and traditions that still exist today.
