Educational Objectives: River ecosystems tend to be lushly vegetated and full of diverse life forms because of the constant presence of water and the diversity of habitats (i.e., aquatic and land-based). Also, a Globidens was a large mososaur from the late cretaceous that lived in the water and used its large, globe-shaped teeth to eat turtles and other large shellfish.

Next, Auntie Kayla uses warm water to rinse out the shampoo and puts conditioner to make Gabrielle's hair feel super soft and slippery. Then, a big comb is used to detangle and get out all the knots in Gabrielle's curls. For bath time, Auntie twists her hair up in a shower cap. After rinsing out the hair, it gets detangled one more time. Then she puts avocado oil and the leave-in conditioner to make Gabrielle's hair softer and smoother. Finally, Gabrielle picks out a style for her hair that can do so many different things afro, ponytail, box braids, or afro puffs! Wash Day is really special to Gabrielle and her family.

After some observations, they learn that certain fruits only grow in certain seasons. The peaches might be gone, but they'll be back next summer, and now that it's almost fall, they can pick another fresh and juicy fruit for their friends -- apples!

To illustrate the aboriginal people's connection, on Manitoulin Island Joseph joins his First Nations guides at a pow wow, on a hike along the Niagara Escarpment, in handcrafting a drum and at an aboriginal feast. He also visits a Roman Catholic church which endeavors to be a gathering place for native and non-native alike by incorporating the symbols, traditions and beliefs of both. On the historic French River he learns that to the French fur traders, voyageurs, its lakes and rivers were highways to prosperity - and to outdoor enthusiasts a never-ending source of pleasure. In the region's largest town, Sudbury, it's clear that to the lumber and mining industries the surrounding trees and rocks are a resource of wealth and riches. With the French River as a magnificent backdrop Joseph meets artists to whom the natural scenery is an inspiration and who capture its dramatic landscape to showcase Canada's natural beauty. Finally, Joseph's journey of discovery reveals that the historic interactions and modern day partnerships formed here between diverse interests speak of a spirit of cooperation that distinguishes Canada. For millennia, gray whales have made an annual pilgrimage from the cold, rich marine waters in the Gulf of Alaska to the warm, protected waters of San Ignacio Lagoon. The calm bay sits on the west coast of Baja California. There the mother whales feel safe from predators and give birth to their calves. They also urge the newborn giants to make contact with humans, who await them in boats, hoping for an opportunity to pet them. In this vast shelter, both the Mexican government and the boatmen, fishermen the rest of the year, guard the whales and nurture the friendship between people and the gentle leviathans.
