Then he discusses his canvas choice and preparation. Now he shows his reference material and how to create a composite using multiple photos. Then takes his soft vine charcoal and makes a rough sketch of the main composition. He then finishes by painting phase one of the sky and distant trees.
In this segment, Jerry starts the finishing phase of the sky and background. Then he begins the process of underpainting the middle and foreground areas. He discusses the issue of glazing to create softness. Then paints in final highlights and details in the middle and foreground areas. He finishes by explaining the compositional layout of Old Faithful as it begins to release its steam and gases.
In episode 3, Jerry continues highlighting the foreground rock area with multiple colors and various brighter highlights and details. Now he explains how to mix a specific color of gray for the underpainting of the mist and gasses from the geyser. Now he shows how to use the # 6 bristle brush to underpaint the formations of the geyser. He ends by explaining how to layer the light values to create the cloud-like formations.
In this final episode, Jerry continues layering the highlights on the explosion of mist and gases from the geyser. He explains how to carefully layer the highlights to create the progression of lighter values. Then shows how to create a very bright white to cap the multi-layered formations. Then he finishes by using the toothbrush to splatter the rock formation with various colors.

In Newport, Samantha visits what is likely the oldest family business in America--the John Stevens shop--where Nick Benson and his family carry on the ancient craft of stone carving in a building older than the United States itself. With history found in every plot of ground, Samantha meets Newport Historian Keith Stokes, who reveals the hidden history of God's Little Acre, a Colonial-era cemetery whose gravestones tell the story of the African American experience in Rhode Island. They also visit Division Street, where advocates for religious freedom and the abolition of slavery were once uneasy neighbors with slave traders. Strolling on Newport's famous Cliff Walk, Samantha takes in spectacular views of the windswept Atlantic and Gilded Age mansions before stepping inside Marble House, the "cottage" owned by Alva Vanderbilt, a champion of the American suffragette movement. No visit to Rhode Island is complete without clams so Samantha takes to the water to try her hand at harvesting these mouth-watering mollusks with a little help from local shell fisherman David Ghigliotti. Samantha enjoys these fruits of the sea compliments of TR McGrath, whose family business carries on the tradition of Rhode Island clambakes. TR teaches Samantha how to end her Rhode Island trip right by making the perfect Rhode Island clam chowder-then treats her to a seaside lobster and clambake to top it all off.

Hunted and often entrapped by undercover police in their hometowns, gays from around the U.S. began fleeing to New York in search of a sanctuary. Hounded there still by an aggressive police force, they found refuge in a Mafia-run gay bar in Greenwich Village, the Stonewall Inn. When police raided Stonewall on June 28, 1969, gay men and women did something they had not done before: they fought back. As the streets of New York erupted into violent protests and street demonstrations, the collective anger announced that the gay rights movement had arrived.
