In 1942, as World War II reached Alaska, Aleut Americans were moved to government camps 1,500 miles away, where an estimated 10 percent died. While they prayed for deliverance, "friendly forces" looted their homes and churches in the Aleutian and Pribilof islands. The surviving Aleuts ultimately joined Japanese Americans in seeking wartime reparations from the federal government. Filmed on location in Alaska and Washington, D.C., this poignant, richly textured film features rare archival images and compelling interviews with Aleut internment survivors?many of whom are speaking out for the first time in over 60 years. He knows that the cookies that have four equal sides and angles are squares and the cookies that have three equal sides and angles are triangles, but he doesn't know what octagons look like. With help from The Count, Cookie Monster learns that octagons have eight equal sides and angles. He finds the octagon-shaped cookie and shares the cookies with his friends!
Daniel's Birthday - It's Daniel's Birthday! Daniel is very excited to go to Baker Aker's Bakery with his mom to pick out a cake for his party. When they arrive home after a bumpy ride on Trolley, Daniel is disappointed to find that his cake is smushed. It turns out...smushed cake is yummy too! The kids learn that there are simple things we can do to lessen our impact on nature, and complete their Sunny Summer Song in the dark. The kids decide to give away the peaches they've picked from Elinor's peach tree to all their friends in Animal Town. Everyone loves their peaches, but soon their basket is emp-ty. They head to Farmer Bear's farm to get more, but when they get there, they discover that there is only one peach left on the tree! Is Animal Town out of peaches? After some observations, they learn that certain fruits only grow in certain seasons. The peaches might be gone, but they'll be back next summer, and now that it's almost fall, they can pick another fresh and juicy fruit for their friends -- apples!
