There are more species of plants here than almost anywhere else in the world. Or at least there were more species of plants than almost anywhere else in the world. As the region has developed, shopping malls, schools, roadways, office buildings, and homes cover what was once vernal pools, and other rare habitat areas. As a result, San Diego County is also on the hotlist for endangered species. In this episode, we meet Dr. John Clark, the charismatic scientist who is executive director of the Center for Plant Conservation, which recently relocated from the Missouri Botanical Garden to join forces with the San Diego Zoological Society. Dr. Clark takes us to see examples of endangered plants, many of which are all around us -- we simply don't recognize them. We talk with Dr. Clark about why these plants are important, what exactly it means to be an "endangered" plant, and what, if anything, we can do to slow the rate of plant extinction both locally and worldwide.

Don and Buddy become detectives and suspect that maybe Tiny, Shiny, or other friends may be stealing the eggs. They're not. Soon, all the kids join in to solve the mystery, as they figure out that the eggs belong to an over-protective, caring mom named Olivia Oviraptor who is just trying to keep her eggs safe. Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don have fun spending a special day with their retired Grandma and Grandpa at their cliffside nest. The kids get to see things from their Dad's childhood nature collection, and afterwards they play games and fish with Grandma and Grandpa.

She shares that Bessie Coleman wanted to learn how to fly an airplane but wasn't allowed to because of the way she looked. However, Bessie Coleman didn't give up and went far away to a school that taught her how to fly an airplane no matter what she looked like. With Bessie's courage, she became the very first African American and Native American woman to fly an airplane! Thanks to Gabrielle's show, Elmo and Grover learn that just because they may be the first person to do something doesn't mean that can't do it. Elmo doesn't give up and decides to become the first monster-cook-teacher-cooking teacher.
