Hedy Lamarr's Secret Life #873

Saturday, March 10, 05:00 pm on KPBS

Duration: 0:24:10

Description: Hedy Lamarr was one of the most iconic actresses of her day, starring in dozens of films from the 1930s through the 1950s. Lamarr was known for her great beauty, but there was a part of her life almost no one knew about: she was also a brilliant inventor. One of her inventions even became the foundation for secure Wifi and Bluetooth technologies. A new documentary film about the Hollywood superstar and inventor opened widely in theaters across the nation this week and will air May 18 on American Masters on PBS. NewsHour Weekend's Megan Thompson recently spoke to Alexandra Dean, the director of "Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story."
