(2003) Visits paleontologist, Des Collins, at the Royal Ontario Museum to trace the development of animals that lived 5 million years ago and ultimately became extinct. Des introduces the fossils of anomalocaris found in the Burgess Shale. Computer animation recreates life before the Cambrian explosion when anomalocaris and other predatory animals roamed the world's oceans. An evolutionary biologist at the museum explains how he advises staff who recreate models of prehistoric animals for the Museum. Computer animation is used to recall the evolutionary stages represented by sponges, cnidarians, and flatworms, a genetic diversity that was preparation for the Cambrian explosion. The biologist explains that the 35 body plans that exist in the world today, suddenly became evident in the Cambrian period to provide a legacy for all animals in existence today. There's always food growing somewhere in America. That's part of the real miracle of nature. Fruits and veggies are in full swing in Florida in the coldest months of the year ? we start this episode in the Everglades in early February with our friends from L&M Farms. Then we roll up to Georgia in spring to visit Baker Farms, one of the largest growers of greens anywhere. Then we head for North Carolina in July to follow the crop as it continues marching north before starting all over again in Florida the next year.
They cut the ribbon on the sparking new $140 million Steve Troxler North Carolina Department of Agricultural Science Center in March of this year. We stopped by a month later for a tour of what is likely the world's finest ag research facility, a five-acre campus that brings virtually all of the state's ag science departments under one roof. You'll be amazed how many things in this building touch your life every day, from the food you eat or feed your pets, to the medicine you take, to the clothes on your back and the gas or diesel in your vehicle, here's where they make sure it's all up to snuff. And it's also where they weight the official state lottery balls!

Part 4: In the Philippines waste is being controlling by reusable packaging and baskets made from native plants. Part 5: in the Green Shop, people in the United Kingdom can purchase environmentally friendly products. Part 6: In Brooklyn, a writer has created a farm in his urban back yard. Part 7: In Chile, human and industrial wastes are purified by earthworms. Part 8: In Devon, England, a wedding in a fairytale setting is environmentally friendly.

With the support of Principal Mahina Anguay, Mr. Harding, a natural resource teacher, and his students created Aloha Garden & Farm on the campus of Waimea H.S. It is here where students learn the principles and actions of farming and sustainability and make the practice of aloha aina a reality.
